At Mayrhofen, the Zillertal Valley fans into tributary valleys of the Zillertal Alps. Its northern part nestles High Mountain National Park of the Zillertal Alps.

High Mountain National Park of the Zillertal Alps originates in Ginzling at the altitude of 1000 m and stretches along to the Hochfeiler at 3510 m ASL. Its mountains feature narrow gorges that spread into glacial valleys and their tributaries, steep rock walls, summits and glaciers. The well-known 3000 m-mountains are for instance the Olperer (3476 m), the Reichenspitze (3303 m) and the Hochfeiler (3510 m). They offer grand views and unforgettable mountaineer adventures.

The High Mountain National Park of the Zillertal Alps is being constantly monitored in by the federal state of Tyrol, Austrian Alpine Association, responsible communities as well as tourist associations of Mayrhofen and Finkenberg.

High Mountain National Park of the Zillertal Alps offers a wide variety of programmes: guided hikes and theme walks, like Minerals Walking tour, or hikes as 2005 opened Glacier Route Berliner Hut.
